Use wood for your decorations. Santa is usually seen in a wooden cottage in traditional Christmas. Try and make your home look like the Santa wooden cottage. Use reclaimed wood to create a wall or logs to make a fireplace surround. The reclaimed wooden logs can also be fashioned into coffee tables. Your house will become warmer with the natural color and feel of wood. It will also add some feeling of nature to the house. Do not forget to treat the reclaimed wood prior to use. Dry the wood and remove any fungus growing on it before use.
Use cushions and blankets everywhere in the room to make it more comfortable. The cushions and blankets will bring warmth to the room and make it more inviting. Use traditional prints like reindeer, penguins and tartan, as they are more Christmassy. You can also use scented candles to make the room cozier. If you do not have scented candles, just use the unscented ones with pine cones or cloves. They will release a scent when the air around them is heated.
Do not forget to include some snacks in your decorations. It is not unusual for people to want more food during winter and Christmas. The cravings might be as a result of tendencies or as a mechanism to cope with the winter. You might also need the snacks during the night because with the cold and visiting family, eating out may not be possible.
